A victory for Scotland’s health

The UK Supreme Court’s unanimous backing of minimum unit pricing (MUP) is a landmark victory for Scotland’s health. Today we welcome this judgement that rejects the Scotch Whisky Association's appeal against minimum unit pricing.
Director of Public Health Science, Dr Andrew Fraser said
“MUP allows the Scottish Government to make progress towards creating a fairer healthier Scotland for its people. There is good evidence that minimum unit pricing for alcohol will reduce the high level of alcohol harm experienced by individuals, families and communities in Scotland. We look forward to MUP being implemented as soon as feasible.”
