Scottish Bowel Screening programme - a guide for professionals
Guidance
First published on 08 November 2017
Description
From November 2017, the faecal immunochemical test (FIT) will replace the current guaiac faecal occult blood test (gFOBt) in the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme. This pack has been developed to help health professionals understand and support this important change in the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme. FIT has many advantages over gFOBT. It’s an easier and more acceptable test which should improve uptake.
A copy of the pack was posted to all GPs. The full pack included the documents available for download, a full sample test kit and a poster. GPs can request more copies of the full pack by emailing nhs.HealthScotland-Publications@nhs.net.
