NHS Health Scotland’s vision is a Scotland in which all of its people and communities have a fairer share of the opportunities, resources and confidence to live longer, healthier lives.
Our strategy, ‘A Fairer Healthier Scotland’, sets out our approach to realising this vision.
Our mission is to reduce health inequalities and to improve the health of the population of Scotland.
Working in partnership
We recognise that we cannot succeed in our vision and mission on our own. Reducing health inequalities and improving health requires organisations across all sectors to work together. This includes
- local authorities
- other NHS Boards
- community groups
- housing associations
- Scottish Government
- academic organisations
- Community Planning Partnerships
- health and social care partnerships.
Getting knowledge into action
Our primary role is to work with others to produce, share and implement knowledge of what works to improve the health of the people of Scotland in an equitable way. Generating, managing and supporting the application of knowledge helps
- improve practice
- build stronger support for action across all sectors
- identify the policies that will make the greatest difference.
